Immigration Options For Ukrainians

#Refugees #Immigrants #Ukraine

The crisis in Ukraine resulting from Russia’s invasion of the country has prompted numerous questions and inquiries regarding possible immigration relief for Ukrainian citizens.

On March 3, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas designated Ukraine for Temporary Protected Status. This will give Ukrainian citizens 18 months of status and work authorization, which may be renewed if the country has not recovered from the crisis by September of 2023.

In this video immigration attorney, Jennifer Walker Gates goes over different resources for Ukrainian immigrants in the United States.

Witnessing Abuse is Abuse

#Immigration #Survivors #Immigrants

Adults must protect children from experiencing abuse.

One of the main reasons immigrant victims of violence do not report to police is that they’re afraid that seeing a parent arrested will harm their children.

In this video, immigration attorney Jennifer Walker Gates and psychotherapist Ana Irizarry discuss domestic violence’s legal and psychological impacts for children and families and discuss resources for seeking help if you are experiencing violence in your home.

What Is A Permanent Bar?

Individuals who enter the USA without permission after accruing one year or more of unlawful presence in the USA, OR who enter unlawfully after deportation, are subject to the so-called “permanent bar.”

The permanent bar prevents an immigrant from legalizing their status through a family member until they spend at least 10 years outside the United States. It is one of the most unjust and unforgiving provisions of U.S. immigration law.

In this video immigration attorneys, Jennifer Walker Gates and Diego Nuñez help us understand a little bit about this law and its processes.
